Rapper 50 Cent was rushed to the hospital Monday night after suffering injuries from a serious car accident on the Long Island Expressway in Queens.
Police sources have confirmed to the Daily News that the 36-year-old rapper was a passenger in a 2005 Chevy Suburban that was rear-ended by a red Mack truck on the highway’s eastbound lane as it was approaching the Van Wyck exit at around 11:10 p.m.
“(50 Cent) was taken to New York Hospital Queens where he was treated for minor neck and back injuries,” the rapper’s rep told The News. “He was released this morning and is doing fine.”
Photos on the rapper’s website Thisis50.com show the “In da Club” singer conscious, but in visible pain as he’s strapped to a stretcher and wearing a neck brace.
His driver, 51, was also taken to the hospital to be treated for minor injuries.
The 61-year-old driver of the 1998 Mack truck that hit the rapper’s ride told police that traffic suddenly slowed in front of him and he couldn’t stop in time, sources said.
No summonses were issued and no arrests were made.
