One boy with cerebral palsy has been given one of the best gifts any child could ever have—the acceptance and support of his peers. With so much news about bullying in today’s schools, this story proves not all kids are monsters looking for victims. The kids at Colonial Hills Elementary in Ohio prove there are some good kids in the world who deserve a little recognition.

Matt, who has spastic cerebral palsy is like any other energetic kid. He wanted to participate in his school’s traditional field day events. The brave young man joined his classmates in a race around the field. As the courageous Matt makes his way around the field, he never gives up, despite being way behind the pack. A teacher does his best to encourage Matt and runs along beside him.

As the other students finished the race, they noticed their struggling classmate still on the field. Their next act will bring a tear to your eyes. A few kids began shouting out words of encouragement. Then a few more ran out and start jogging with him. Suddenly, the field is filled with a huge group of kids running behind Matt and chanting!

It is such an amazing and heartwarming sight to see these kids supporting a boy who is dealing with a serious illness. Nobody told these kids to do this, they just did it. With the overwhelming amount of support from his fellow classmates, the boy with cerebral palsy managed to finish the event. Matt was clearly exhausted, but he did it!

He was treated like an Olympic gold winner as students surrounded him and showered him with hugs and praise. These are the kind of stories that should be making front-page news. There is some good in this world if you dig deep enough.   June 02, 2012 12:05 PM EDT By Mia Meadows (news.gather.com)
