Party foul for real. It’s hard to laugh about this customer that was at London’s Playboy Club recently who destroyed a $77,615 bottle of historic Cognac dated back to 1788.

Expensive taste and butterfingers! Apparently according to Drinks Business a businessman ordered two glasses of the brandy each priced at $7,839, after asking to chekc out the bottle, when standing up the bottle hit the floor and shattered.

The bottle was previouly auctioned in Paris for a whopping $37,000 in 2009. Since the bottle is broken, it won’t be able to be featured by mixologists Salvatore Calabresein his attempt to make the world’s most expensive cocktail hoping to have landed in The Guinness World Records.

Mr Calabrese stated: “We all just froze, then it sunk in. I’ve been heartbroken. Not because of the value of the bottle, but because it is a piece of history that has been lost.”

The deep sadness comes from the fact that the bottle of Clos de Griffier Vieux wasn’t insured since it had been opened, but Calabresein has been able to forgive the customer. This may be easy since Calabresein is a Cognac expert and has a collection worth over 1.5 nillion dollars. “Accidents happen,” Calabrese told The Evening Standard.
